HOLD THE LINE: EXCALIBUR, THE BATTLES OF KING ARTHUR, depicts the battles of King Arthur in 6th Century Britain.

The existence of a man named ‘King Arthur’ is hotly debated by historians. The records from the Early Middle Ages are conflicting and unclear at best.

What we do know is that at some point in the Post Roman period in Britain there was a man (or men) who led a resolute defense against a great Saxon invasion. For a brief moment in time a civilization at the edge of the known world stemmed the tide of darkness.

Refight the battles that were, or might have been, with an updated and a more detailed Hold the Line system….

The game comes with 3 campaigns of linked scenarios, with 8 total scenarios:

  • Campaign 1: SCENARIOS 1 – 3 “THE MATTER OF THE NORTH” (Roughly 490 AD)

  • Campaign 2: SCENARIOS 4 – 6 “PEACE OR NONE” *Roughly 10 years later (Around 500 AD)

  • Campaign 3:  SCENARIOS 7 – 8 “THE WINTER OF THE KING”

Designed by Matt Burchfield, EXCALIBUR, has been a labor of love for him for over 7 years of research and testing.  Matt has taken the HOLD THE LINE system and modified it reflecting the traits and abilities of the armies of the Picts/ Saxons/ and Romano-British armies.
