Field of Glory Legions Triumphant covers the armies of the Roman Empire and their enemies from 25BC till 493AD. This was the historical time period which began with Rome’s’ first Emperor, Augustus and goes until the fall of the Western Roman Empire. It was at this time period that Rome expanded its borders and conquered all the known civilized world. This is the 5th Field of Glory Expansion and requires ownership of the original Field of Glory game to use. As with all of the Field of Glory expansions, you can choose the side you wish to play. You can play either as the Romans, trying to conquer the world, or one of Rome’s enemies, trying to stop them.

New features are added to the game as is usual with a new expansion and Legions Triumphant is no different. The new features added to the game with this Expansion are:

  • A new map selections tool. The player winning the initiative can now select their preferred battlefield.
  • A Legions Triumphant allies to the Rise of Rome D.A.G (Gallic, Numidians, Early Armenian, Later Jewish, Bosporans).
  • A Legions Triumphant allies to the Immortal Fire D.A.G (Thracians).
  • 14 new random maps to the D.A.G. battles system. There are now 41 small maps, 111 medium sized maps and 73 large maps in the D.A.G. system.
  • A Legions Triumphant allies to the Rise of Rome D.A.G (Gallic, Numidians, Early Armenian, Later Jewish, Bosporans).
  • A Legions Triumphant allies to the Immortal Fire D.A.G (Thracians).
  • 14 new random maps to the D.A.G. battles system. There are now 41 small maps, 111 medium sized maps and 73 large maps in the D.A.G. system.
  • Over 200 new battle group graphics and supporting information with the D.A.G. lists.
  • 22 Legions Triumphant D.A.G. lists in 47 variations from Principate Roman to Hephthalite Hunnic.

Also, over 30 new armies are added to the game. These civilizations can be used with the Digital Army Generator (D.A.G.) to create new armies to use with the game. The new civilizations that are presented are:

Finally, 14 new battles are added to the overall game. These battles range from 54BC to 451AD. The new battles presented in the Legion Triumphant Expansion are:

Legions Triumphant is the 5th expansion that continues to add value to the Field of Glory game system. As with the books and other expansions, players can create their own armies and battlefields to test their army creations on the field of battle. Legions Triumphant brings the Roman Army home and allows players to test their mettle and see if their Legions can triumph over the barbarian hordes. As with the other expansions, Legions Triumphant is a must have expansion if you are a miniature gamer or computer gamer that enjoys the Field of Glory games.
